Lisa Tech recently completed an onsite smart classroom installation at Ateneo de Zamboanga University (ADZU) in support of the university’s participation in the SPARK-COIL Project—an international Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) initiative co-funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ Capacity Building for Higher Education (CBHE) program.

The onsite installation, completed earlier this month, included the deployment of LisaBoard interactive displays and overhead LisaMic audio systems, designed to enhance hybrid instruction, cross-border collaboration, and digitally mediated learning environments essential to COIL-based programs.

Enabling Collaborative Online International Learning Through Smart Classroom Technology

The SPARK-COIL Project—short for Strengthen and Promote Academic Agility, Resilience, and Knowledge Exchange through Collaborative Online International Learning—brings together all five Ateneo universities in the Philippines alongside European partner institutions in Spain and Poland. The initiative aims to integrate COIL pedagogy into university curricula, providing students with intercultural learning experiences and strengthening global academic partnerships.

As SPARK-COIL moves from training and program development into active implementation, reliable classroom infrastructure becomes a critical component of success. The installation at Ateneo de Zamboanga University ensures that learning spaces are equipped to support:

  • Synchronous and asynchronous online collaboration
  • Clear audio capture for hybrid and international sessions
  • Interactive teaching and presentation across digital platforms

Lisa Tech’s onsite work focused on preparing classrooms that can support real-time engagement between local and international participants, aligning physical learning spaces with the pedagogical goals of SPARK-COIL.

Smart Classrooms Designed for Global Collaboration

The installation included:

  • LisaBoard Smart Interactive Displays, enabling dynamic presentations, shared digital workspaces, and interactive instruction
  • LisaMic Overhead Audio Systems, designed to capture clear, omnidirectional sound across classrooms—supporting discussions, lectures, and hybrid sessions without disrupting the learning flow

Together, these technologies help ensure that instructors and students can participate fully in COIL activities, regardless of physical location.

Rather than focusing solely on hardware deployment, Lisa Tech worked closely with the university to ensure that the setup aligns with actual teaching practices, room layouts, and long-term academic use.

About the SPARK-COIL Project

SPARK-COIL is the first Erasmus+ CBHE project proposed by a Philippine consortium, bringing together Ateneo de Manila University (Project Coordinator), Ateneo de Davao University, Ateneo de Naga University, Ateneo de Zamboanga University, and Xavier University–Ateneo de Cagayan. European partners include Universidad de Alicante (Spain) and Akademia WSB (Poland).

The project focuses on building institutional capacity for Collaborative Online International Learning, equipping faculty and students with the skills, systems, and partnerships needed for meaningful global engagement.
